Merritt Patterson and Trevor Donovan star in a new original Great American Family film, which premiered on October 21.

In the new holiday film, “‘Twas the Text Before Christmas,” an unexpected text message sent to the wrong number sets into motion a holiday tradition with a new family (Trevor Donovan) over three separate years.

Addie (Merritt Patterson) and Nana (Jayne Eastwood) develop a close friendship after an accidental text message. Addie goes to visit Nana, where she meets Nana’s only son James (Trevor Donovan).

James and Addie start to view each other differently after years of spending holidays together.

T.W. Peacocke directed this film from a screenplay by Cara J. Russell. Merritt Patterson and Trevor Donovan have good chemistry together, and their affecting rapport allows for more resonance.

Trevor Donovan delivers a charming performance as James, and Merritt is bubbly as Addie. Jayne Eastwood (“Endlings”) is noteworthy as Nana.

This project has a sweet and poignant message that is food for thought for all.

The Verdict

Overall, this new movie is enjoyable from start to finish, and it will help provide feel-good escapism even before the Halloween and Thanksgiving festivities. One thing is for certain… Merritt Patterson and Trevor Donovan do not disappoint. The film garners two thumbs up.
