She co-wrote all of the tracks on there. Following a brief interlude, it opens with her breakthrough smash single “All About That Bass,” which is the tune that introduced her to the world. It is followed by the up-tempo and sassy “Dear Future Husband,” which has a retro vibe to it.
“Close Your Eyes” is a rich yet sultry ballad. “3am” is a mellow tune, co-written by the ever-talented singer-songwriter Todd Carey. “Like I’m Gonna Lose You” is a collaboration with multi-Grammy winner John Legend.
“Bang Dem Sticks” is yet another upbeat and sassy song, with a unique beat. “Walkashame” is infectious and extremely radio-friendly that would be a solid choice for a future single. “Title” is laid-back and fun. “What If I” is another distinct vocal, where her vocals are slightly reminiscent of Tove Lo. It closes with her latest radio single, “Lips Are Movin,” where the listener is left wanting more. It is only a matter of time before her new single, “Lips Are Movin” becomes her second consecutive No. 1 hit, and it would be very deserving.
The Verdict
Overall, Meghan Trainor’s debut studio effort is delightful. What makes her stand out on the radio airwaves is that there is nobody else like her out there. Her style is fresh and unique, and she manages to stay true to her own identity as a singer and songwriter. Title garners 4.5 out of 5 stars.
