Maurice Benard spotlights actress Chauntal Lewis on his MB “State of Mind” podcast on mental health.
This was a raw, emotional, and incredible story. As a daytime actress, she has played the role of Nurse Chanel on “General Hospital” since 2015. Maurice Benard stars as Sonny Corinthos on the hit ABC daytime drama.
Her film work includes such movies as “Séance,” “A Friend’s Betrayal,” “For the People,” and “Coach Carter.”
Lewis opened up to Benard about the traumatic car accident that resulted in the amputation of her left hand and could have cost her her life, as well as how she overcame bouts of PTSD and depression and used her passion, drive, and determination to move forward.
In 2010, when she was running more, rather than driving, Lewis caught the attention of Nike and was picked for their LA Destroyer campaign: “More than an actress, more than an athlete; an innovator in her craft, an LA Gamechanger.”
