Review: Martina McBride stuns on ‘Over the Rainbow’ on American Idol (Includes first-hand account)

McBride served as a mentor for this season of American Idol, as well as musical guest, where her stellar rendition would have made the late Judy Garland proud.

A Kansas native, McBride was accompanied on piano and on acoustic guitar, where she performed a raw and authentic version of the tune, allowing her crystalline and powerhouse vocals to shine.

McBride previously recorded a cover of the classic “Over The Rainbow” for her Martina studio album, which was released well over a decade ago. Her latest vocal on American Idol garnered an A+ rating.

As Digital Journal reported, McBride has now inked a new record deal with Nash Icon Records, where she joins country mega-star Reba.
