An award-winning country songstress that hails from Kansas, McBride was backed by her full band, which included trumpets, saxophones, a trombone, and her three background vocalists.
“Oh you sound so good,” McBride said mid-way through her career hit, “Independence Day,” as her dedicated fans sang along, despite the pouring rain.
McBride’s live rendition of the tune was powerful, timeless and captivating. It was worthy of the standing ovation that it received in the end.
“Thank you, Nashville, We love you,” McBride concluded.
Overall, Martina McBride proved yet again that she is still at the top of her game. Most impressive about McBride is that “Independence Day” was released as a radio single over 21 years ago (in April of 1994), proving its iconic status. Although it takes a firm stance against domestic violence, its chorus is patriotic and appropriate for the Fourth of July holiday.
