Her album opens with its title track lead single “Reckless,” and it is followed by “It Ain’t Pretty.”
The crystalline ballad “Just Around the Corner” showcases her tremendous vocal range, and it has an inspirational message to it due to its optimistic lyrics. “Everybody Wants To Be Loved” is yet another dynamic ballad, where she displays her trademark pipes. It is followed by the traditional country tune “The Real Thing,” where she collaborates with singer-songwriter Buddy Miller.
McBride picks up the pace with the uplifting yet infectious “That’s The Thing About Love.” The mellow “Low All Afternoon” is another noteworthy ballad in this collection.
The highlight track on the album is “Diamond,” where McBride sings with fellow country star Keith Urban, who lends his velvet voice on the track. Both of their vocals blend well together, and they produce one true vocal event, that deserves to be nominated for a “Vocal Event of the Year” Country Music Association (CMA) award down the road.
The CD closes with the bittersweet “We’ll Pick Up Where We Left Off,” and with the piano-driven ballad “You and You Alone,” the latter of which has a jazz vibe to it.
