Around 8:30 p.m., Schulz had a playback segment, where the acclaimed DJ was sharing his stories about each of the songs on his latest studio album, the critically-acclaimed Watch the World.
Schulz noted that for this project, he focused on the “melodies and the drops.” He shared that he was into creative writing when he was young, and he used his creative writing mindset to write songs for this album, where the stories and the themes could relate to people as a community. This studio effort took two years for him to make, and he went in with a paper, pen and a guitar.
The song “Let It Rain,” featured vocals by Helen, and it is dedicated to all the “beautiful dancers.” Out of all the tracks on this CD, he noted that the hardest one to make was “You and I,” which features lead vocals from electronic songstress Adina Butar, whom he dubbed as his musical “muse,” and added the fact that they are both perfectionists as artists.
The album cover design was based on a giant telescope, which is built being in Washington, D.C., which will be one of the largest telescopes in the world, with the hopes that it will allow people to “watch other worlds,” with regard to the album title.
“Summer Dream” is a track that deals with the friendship he has with his best friend, Ferry Corsten. Schulz concluded that “Favorite Nightmare,” featuring vocals from Delacey, is dedicated to Adina Butar, and he subsequently thanked her for encouraging him to follow the path that brought him back to songwriting. Finally, the song “Soldier” is a tribute to his fans, which are affectionately dubbed as the “Schulz Army.”
A few hours following the playback, Schulz returned to perform a well-received set for a packed Cielo audience, which included new material from Watch The World.
