Review: Magician pays emotional tribute to late brother via magic trick

A Britain’s Got Talent alum, Oake was able to impress Britain and the world with his close-up magic and his dangerous illusions such as his straight-jacket escape and a teleportation demonstration.

“Who here tonight came with a husband or a wife or a spouse? Who came with a sibling?” Oake asked, as he began his demonstration and story-telling. “I want to tell you a true story, and it’s something that I think about every day,” he narrated.

His story was about two kids that grew up together, and he displayed a photo of them, where one was a little older than the other. Oake named one of those two kids, “Alpha,” and he discussed their different personalities, as a sudden tragedy struck, where one sibling was left alone.

Two male dancers portrayed the story that Oake was vividly narrating, which was followed by a levitation demonstration from Oake.

It was met with a warm response, and an even more moving reaction when Oake revealed that he was the younger kid, and that his late brother, Bruce, was the older kid, and his best friend. It was followed by the poignant caption “Bruce Oake RIP (1985-2011).” Oake deserves an A, for being able to touch people on an emotional level.

This year, Oake will be featured as “The Grand Illusionist” as he joins an ensemble magic tour in the United States and Toronto, Canada.
