Review: Madonna charms on haunting new ‘Ghosttown’ music video (Includes first-hand account)

Madonna co-wrote the song with Jason Evigan, Sean Douglas and Evan Bogart. Her music video was directed by long-time collaborator, Jonas Akerlund, who had previously worked with the pop queen on videos for her singles “Ray of Light,” “Music” and “American Life.” It features Oscar-nominated actor Terrence Howard, and it has an interesting, futuristic story-line to it. Her choreography is as impressive as ever.

Most recently, she performed it on the iHeartRadio Music Awards with global pop star Taylor Swift accompanying her on guitar, which was a fantastic live performance, all centered on Madonna’s captivating vocals.

“When it all falls, when it all falls down, I’ll be your fire when the lights go out, When there’s no one, no one else around, We’ll be two souls in a ghosttown,” she sings.

Her song is played regularly on the New York radio airwaves, including New York’s No. 1 hit music station, 106.7 Lite Fm.

The Verdict

Madonna’s new single and its music video earns an A- rating. It is one of the stand-out tracks on her best-selling Rebel Heart.
