Eldredge, who shared the stage with fellow country singer Brett Young, opened his set with “Superhero.” “I’ve been waiting for this for so long,” he said, prior to inquiring if the New York audience was ready to get rowdy on a Wednesday night.
He had the crowd clapping along with him on his first chart-topping single “Don’t Ya,” prior to singing his latest single, “Somethin’ I’m Good At,” which deals with ignoring one’s faults, and finding something one is good at.
For Eldredge, Madison Square Garden is a special place since seven years prior he sat in the audience to see James Taylor perform, and he felt privileged to be able to be performing in the same venue. He continued with “Wanna Be That Song.”
“Let’s get back to dancing everybody,” he said, and went on to sing the infectious and high-octane “Beat of the Music.” He went on to cover Train’s “Drops of Jupiter,” which had a neat echo effect to it. “You’re doing so good Madison Square Garden,” he exclaimed, praising his fans.
Equally fun and exciting was “Drunk On Your Love,” where everybody was reciting the lyrics of the chorus verbatim.
During the lovey dovey portion of the show, Eldredge serenaded his fans to “Mean to Me,” as red lights shined from the stage, and the audience subsequently lit up the venue with the lights from their phones, which was quite the beautiful sight. “Let’s slow dance, New York,” Eldredge said, midway through the song.
“Are you ready to lose your minds?” he asked, prior to closing his set on a sassy note with “Lose My Mind.” “I love you New York City,” he concluded.
The Verdict
Overall, Brett Eldredge put on an amazing concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City. He gets better with each and every live performance (if that is even possible). He had the crowd with him every step of the way, and they all loved him in return. He exhibited tremendous stage presence and charisma. Eldredge’s live show garnered five out of five stars.
