Review: Lynn Anderson phenomenal on new ‘Bridges’ studio album (Includes first-hand account)

Anderson’s CD opens with the soothing ballad “Heaven Has a Human Touch,” where her vocals are pure like the driven snow. It is followed by the upbeat “Get up Joseph,” where she is backed by a choir. “The Bridge” is an elegant, piano-driven vocal.

Her gospel version of “Drift Away” is superb, and the late Dobie Gray would be smiling upon it in heaven. Her vocals are crystalline on “He Saw It All,” while “Meanwhile Back at the Cross” is authentic and optimistic. “Sky Full of Angels” is uplifting and refreshing.

“My Guardian Angel” is a bittersweet performance, while “Fishin” is equally neat and beautifully sung. “Wanderer’s Prayer” is yet another gorgeous vocal, with somewhat poetic lyrics. “The Road to Surrender” is a stirring and haunting ballad, and it closes with “Rise Up.”

The Verdict

Overall, Lynn Anderson is amazing on her latest studio album, Bridges. She is one artist that never disappoints on any album or single that she records and releases. This project deserves a Grammy nomination to the very least, and the folks at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum ought to take notice, since this talented woman deserves to be in there. It garners 4.5 out of 5 stars.
