After charting for 16 weeks on the Billboard Hot Country Airplay charts, the song reached No. 1 for the week of September 15, 2018.
The song’s music video is fun, liberating and a great deal of fun, and it compliments the song quite well. “Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset” was the third single released from his latest studio album, What Makes You Country, and the follow-up to his soothing single “Most People Are Good.”
It was the perfect song for the summer since it deals with a summer romance between two young lovers. The male protagonist falls in love with the girl after being asked to paint her father’s lake house in his sophomore year, who invited him to stay for free with “a couple buddies, a couple of weeks.”
The carefree song was co-penned by such songwriters as Zach Crowell, Ryan Hurd, and Chase McGill. It resonated well when he performed it live at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
“Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset” is available on iTunes.
