Review: Love and Theft spell-binding on new album ‘Whiskey on My Breath’ (Includes first-hand account)

It opens with the sassy “Can’t Wait for the Weekend,” which has a fun vibe to it. “Anytime, Anywhere” is soothing, romantic and melodically-stunning. “Hang out Hungover” has neat instrumentation and strong harmonies from Love and Theft. Their title track single is absolutely stellar, and extremely radio-friendly.

“Easy” is laid-back and mellow, while “Tan Lines” is equally calming and relaxing. Stephen nails the lead vocals on the ballad “Everybody Drives Drunk.” They change the pace of their CD with the uplifting “Can’t Stop Smiling” and their take on “Wrong Baby Wrong,” which is best known as a Martina McBride radio single, is quite refreshing.

It closes with “Like I Feel It,” which has a Rascal Flatts vibe to it, and the bluesy “Let’s Get Drunk and Make Friends.”

The Verdict

Overall, Stephen Barker Liles and Eric Gunderson from Love and Theft have outdone themselves on their latest studio album, Whiskey On My Breath. Their title track single is worth the price of the CD alone. There is a lot of variety on here that is certain to please their fans. It garners 4.5 out of 5 stars.
