Review: Lorde back with remarkable new single ‘Green Light’ (Includes first-hand account)

The single was produced by New Zealand songstress Lorde, as well as Jack Antonoff and Frank Dukes. It is a track on Melodrama, her sophomore full-length studio album that will be out this summer. Melodrama is the follow-up to her critically-acclaimed Pure Heroine.

Director Grant Singer did a solid job directing Lorde’s visually striking music video, and helps capture its eerie mood. It is certainly one of Lorde’s most impressive music videos to date.

The Verdict

Overall, Lorde’s voice is haunting, crisp and compelling as ever on “Green Light.” It was made for the radio airwaves, and they are playing it on heavy rotation, and rightfully so. Lorde showcases a great deal of maturity as a recording artist and songwriter on this new tune, and her new musical direction for this new album seems very promising. “Green Light” garners an A rating.

“Green Light” is available on iTunes and on Spotify.
