Review: Long Island duo Anywhere But Here delights on eponymous EP (Includes first-hand account)

All of the songs on this EP were co-written by Megan Rose and Matt Sinisi, and they released it independently. Sinisi also served as its producer, along with Gregg Gavitt. It was recorded at CenterStage Studios, and it includes such instruments as trumpet, drums, percussion, bass, keyboards and guitars.

It opens with “We Got This,” which consists of vivid imagery and warm lyrics. Megan Rose shines on lead vocals, and Matt Sinisi is superb on harmony vocals and guitar. The follow-up “I’ll Sing for You” is more laid-back and mellow, with Sinisi singing lead and playing the keyboards. His vocals on “I’ll Sing for You” are rich and impressive, coupled with Rose’s angelic harmony.

Rose resumes singing lead vocals on “Watch It Burn,” which is a spitfire tune, while “The Ground” is an ethereal acoustic ballad, led by Rose’s gorgeous voice. They continue with “Nothing to Do” and their six-track EP closes with the bubbly and upbeat “Beautiful Sound.”

The Verdict

Overall, Anywhere But Here’s album is sensational. This duo of Long Island musicians deserves more than just a passing glance. It garners 4.5 out of 5 stars.
