Review: Logan Henderson puts on high-energy show at Jones Beach Theater (Includes first-hand account)

Henderson performed at the “Sun Stage” on 1 p.m. promptly, for a good turnout of fans. He opened his set with the spitfire “Bite My Tongue.” “Let me hear you sing it,” he told the crowd, and they obeyed his request, thus singing along with him.

“Hot 100 Fest,” Henderson screamed. “This is the time of day when I’m waking up. Look how hyped you guys are,” he added, and immediately broke into the new tune “Sober Now,” as he had the audience waving their hands up in the air. “How’s everybody feeling?” he asked and went on to express his gratitude to everybody for being here.

He showed some attitude on the catchy “Take It Out On Me,” and he continued with “Zodiac,” which he incorporated as a medley with his harking and crisp version of Kanye West’s “Heartless.” Henderson’s stage presence was simply infectious.

After a sip of water, Henderson debuted his new single “Pull Me Deep,” where he displayed impressive control over his voice. He acknowledged that the song is only a few days old, and he thanked the people for embracing it already.

Henderson showcased his witty personality on stage when they brought him a tray of pancakes a syrup for him to have his breakfast with the Long Island audience. After taking a few bites, he acknowledged that for him, it will always be “IHOP” as opposed to “IHOb.”

One of the highlight songs of his set including his breakthrough solo single “Sleepwalker,” which he nailed vocally, and it featured a killer electric guitar solo towards the end. “Make some noise,” he shouted.

He concluded on a fitting note with “Generations,” where he left his listeners wanting to hear more. “Thank you guys so much,” he said, effusively. In return, the Jones Beach crowd was chanting “Big Time Rush” to him, thus remembering him as a member of the pop group Big Time Rush, as well as being on the hit Nickelodeon television show of the same name.

“Pull Me Deep” is available on iTunes.

The Verdict

Overall, Logan Henderson was able to put on a high-octane live show at the Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater, as part of the 2018 Billboard Hot 100 Festival. He had the audience in the palm of his hand, and he is worth seeing live whenever he performs in town. His vocals were pristine, smooth and funky. Henderson’s live set garnered an A rating. Bravo.
