Review: LIVE rocks on new single ‘Love Lounge,’ reunites with front-man (Includes first-hand account)

It is great to see front-man Ed Kowalczyk reunited with the group. The song is from the band’s upcoming EP, and it was released on Kavalry Records.

What makes the vocal performance stand out is that it is not overdone. Kowalczyk soars throughout the duration of the song, and from a lyric standpoint, “Love Lounge” is an exploration of the dichotomy of fear and love, which is a topic that many fans and listeners can relate to.

A multi-platinum band, LIVE is made up of Ed Kowalczyk on lead vocals and guitar, Chad Taylor on guitar and background vocals, Patrick Dahlheimer on bass, as well as Chad Gracey on drums and percussion.

Chad Taylor from the band produced the song, and his goal was to make it sound “raw and tight.” It is safe to say that Taylor surpassed that goal. “Love Lounge” was subsequently mixed by Tim Palmer; moreover, the song features two of the band’s touring members: guitar player Zak Loy and additional drummer Robin Diaz.

On August 22, 2018, LIVE will be performing at the Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, New York, where they will serve as the opening act for Counting Crows. Their fans and listeners can expect to hear “Love Lounge” at this Long Island amphitheater.

“Love Lounge” is available on iTunes.

The Verdict

Overall, “Love Lounge” is solid from start to finish, with a fun vibe and catchy beat to it. The return of Ed Kowalczyk as the lead singer is an added bonus, as he displays his velvet voice on the track. The song garners 4.5 out of 5 stars.
