Review: Lisa Lampanelli amazing on ‘Back To The Drawing Board’ TV special (Includes first-hand account)

In this special, she talks about her dog, Parker, whom she named after actress Sarah Jessica Parker, and due to their “really astounding resemblance.”

Lampanelli was open about her “amicable” divorce from her husband, Jimmy, as well as her lack of a dating life. She made the distinction between a woman who is a woman and one who isn’t. “I’m 53 years old. That is too old. Cougar cut-off is 49. I’m not a cougar,” she said, in her special.

She made an important public service announcement about “peanut allergies,” prior to declaring it as a “made-up” allergy for kids to get a “delicious bologna sandwich” instead; moreover, she opened up about the diversity of her loyal fans and her weight loss surgery.

Dubbed as the “Queen of Mean,” Lampanelli also offered serious advice for aspiring comics, as well as for grandparents. Whenever grandparents have their grand-kids over, she recommended they have them over for a “nice sleepover” and subsequently spoil them. “You get them all hopped up on sugar, and they get whatever they freaking’ want. Then, you get them their own first Starbucks, cause it is never too early, for the one-year-old baby’s caffeine. It’s a beautiful thing,” she said.

The Verdict

Overall, Lisa Lampanelli is sublime on her newest television special. Her comedic writing was authentic, raw and unfiltered, but clever at the same time. She is like fine wine, where she only gets better with age. Lampanelli is easily the best female comedian working these days. Back To The Drawing Board garners 5 out of 5 stars. Congratulations.
