The Verdict
Overall, “The Naked Gun” is a high-octane action comedy, and an exhilarating thrill ride. It has it all… the laughs, the thrills, the suspense and the entertainment.
This spoof reboot showcases Liam Neeson’s sense of triumph, and his deadpan performance makes the late but great Leslie Nielsen proud (as it preserves the legacy of this slapstick).
The audience needs to hang on tight because this is one wild, crazy, and bumpy mystery adventure; moreover, it has a retro vibe to it where viewers can recall some of the action comedies of the ’80s and ’90s, and it stays true to the original Zucker, Abrahams Zucker style of comedy filmmaking.
Compliments to director Akiva Schaffer for co-writing such a clever screenplay with Dan Gregor and Doug Mand.
This film is worth more than just a passing glance, and it is the feel-good escapism we all need especially in this day and age. “The Naked Gun” garners four out of five stars. Well done.
