Hummon co-penned four out of the five songs on the album, which was produced by producer Jimmy Robbins. His opening track, “Life’s For Livin’,” is mid-tempo and upbeat, and it is comprised of neat instrumentation. It is followed by the spitfire ballad “Chain Reaction,” as well as “Love You Hate You Miss You,” whose lyrics consist of a mix of contradictory emotions. It closes with the slow-moving ballad “Guts and Glory” and “Window Down Days.”
Hummon saves the greatest song on the album for last, “Window Down Days,” which should become a single at some point in the future. It is liberating with a laid-back and mellow vibe to it, which is worthy of the repeat button on one’s mp3 or CD players.
The Verdict
Overall, Levi Hummon delivers on his self-titled new country EP. With a studio effort of this caliber, Hummon deserves to be the next big in modern country music. It earns 4.5 out of 5 stars.
