Rimes‘ album opens with a bold cover of Brandi Carlile’s “The Story,” and it is followed by “Love Line,” where the listener will be clapping along. Rimes showcases her tremendous vocal range on “Outrageous Love,” while her vocals on the piano-driven “Mother” are pure like the driven snow. It is followed by the sassy title track “Remnants” and equally impressive is the mid-tempo “Long Live Love.”
The piano-driven ballad “How to Kiss a Boy” is another sentimental recording, and equally infectious is “Love is Love is Love,” where one will want to clap along. “Learning Your Language” is bound to become a listener’s favorite, and the same holds true for the ballad “I Couldn’t Do That to Me.” Simply put, Rimes is just magical on ballads. It closes with “Do It Wrong With Me” and the upbeat “Dang Dang.”
The Verdict
Overall, LeAnn Rimes delivers on her new studio album, Remnants. She is not afraid to showcase her vulnerability as a female recording artist on this project, and it shows. Remnants garners 4.5 out of 5 stars.
