Review: Lauren Davidson overcomes the melancholy in ‘Pouring Rain’ ballad (Includes first-hand account)

Davidson explores several important life lessons, in the song’s meaningful lyrics. She handles the tune’s melancholic subject matter with delicacy and sentimentalism.

“Pouring Rain” was co-penned with her father, musician Danny Davidson, and it was subsequently co-produced by her musical director and guitar player Cristian Camilo Castro and Bart Migal, who has worked with such artists as Jessica Simpson and Bjork.

For the second consecutive year, Davidson is a local finalist for the NASH Next competition, and this time with “Pouring Rain.”

The Verdict

Overall, “Pouring Rain” showcases another side of Lauren Davidson’s diverse artistry. She is not afraid to be raw and vulnerable on this ballad. It is great to watch Davidson’s growth as a contemporary country singer-songwriter. This song garners an A rating.

“Pouring Rain” is available on iTunes.
