Review: Larger Than Life plays with Beastie Boys tribute, premieres film (Includes first-hand account)

Beastie N’ Effect took the stage a little after 11 p.m. and they warmed up the stage for Larger Than Life.

Most impressive about Larger Than Life was that they covered material from their regular boy band tribute act (from such musical groups as N Sync and Backstreet Boys), as well as their Bieber vs. Timberlake shows, which featured top notch dancing performances from Amy Connerley and John Wagner, in addition to Edvin Ortega, Toly Rod and Chris Jehnert.

One of the highlight moments included the band members celebrating two special birthdays in the house. “Two very special birthdays. First, we want to give a big shout out to our boy, Markos. Thank you for your support #powerjournalist,” Ortega said. “We want to give a big birthday shout-out to a lady who has been coming to our shows for the past two years, who has never missed a show: Loretta Cassidy,” Ortega added, as band member Chris Jehnert handed Cassidy a bouquet of flowers from the stage.

Today, their highly-anticipated documentary film “Larger Than Life: a Boy Band Story” made its premiere in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Last month, the boy band cover group celebrated their one-year anniversary at Mulcahy’s Pub and Concert Hall.
