Review: Kodaline mesmerizes on lead single ‘Honest’ from upcoming album (Includes first-hand account)

Their sophomore album, Coming Up for Air, will be released on April 14, via their record label, RCA Records.

“Honestly, there’s no need for you to hide, Talk to me, can’t you see? I’m on your side,” front-man Steve Garrigan sings. Their song lyrics are well-written and conversational. Many listeners can relate to its moving message, and it ought to be enjoyed for its beauty and its simplicity. Garrigan’s vocals are reminiscent of Chris Martin from Coldplay. Their song’s music video is remarkable, and worth more than just a passing glance.

An Irish band from Dublin, Kodaline is comprised of Steve Garrigan on lead vocals, Mark Prendergast on guitar, Jason Boland on bass, as well as Vinny May on drums. New York fans can catch Kodaline perform live at Terminal 5 on April 25, as part of their “Live Nation Ones To Watch With Skype” tour.

The Verdict

Overall, Kodaline’s “Honest” single is a pleasant listen. Their vocals are crisp, refreshing yet haunting. It garners 4.5 out of 5 stars. If their new album is anything like this lead-off single, then their fans and listeners are in for a true musical experience.
