Aldean and Chesney shared the stage with such country artists as Brantley Gilbert and Cole Swindell, both of which served as their opening acts, and warmed up the stage for them.
Chesney opened his set with the party anthem “Drink It Up” and it was followed by such tunes as the inspirational “Reality” and the drinking song “Beer in Mexico.”
He showcased his velvet vocals on the laid-back “Pirate Flag,” while he showed the New Jersey audience how to have a good time with “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems.”
“I Go Back” was nostalgic and “Wild Child” displayed his mellow and soothing voice. The crowd resonated well on such youthful tunes as “Living in Fast Forward” and the infectious “Young.”
He covered AC/DC’s “Whole Lotta Rosie,” as well as his fun radio hit “American Kids,” while he sang an acoustic version of the haunting “You and Tequila.” Equally fun were “How Forever Feels” and “Out Last Night,” and he closed with “Don’t Happen Twice” and “The Boys of Fall .”
For his encore, Chesney brought back co-headliner Jason Aldean who joined him on his sassy hit “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy,” and they paid homage to veteran rock star John Mellencamp with “Hurts So Good,” prior to delivering a spitfire version of Aldean’s “The Only Way I Know.” They closed with an upbeat rendition of Bryan Adams’ “Summer of 69,” which featured Aldean on lead vocals.
