On Thursday, April 3rd, rising singer-songwriter Katerina Athena performed at an ‘Emerging Artist Showcase’ at Joanne Trattoria in New York.

Owner Joe Germanotta, Lady Gaga’s father, made the opening remarks and introduced all three artists that performed tonight at Joanne Trattoria, an entertainment hub in the Upper West Side.

Aside from Katerina, the show featured such gifted singer-songwriters as Izze Stein and Parker Phillips.

“I am in 9th grade and I am being homeschooled,” Katerina said. “I just completed a Music Industry Essentials course at NYU Tisch School of the Arts.”

“I will probably go to a Performing Arts school up here,” she told the New York audience about her future plans.

Born Katerina Athena Campos, she is a teenage Greek-American singer-songwriter, and the youngest artist to perform this evening.

Katerina opened her set with Lady Gaga’s “Perfect Celebrity” as she accompanied herself on the piano. It was an expressive and heartfelt interpretation.

She immediately broke into the stirring “Happiness is a butterfly” by Lana Del Rey, where she showcased her rich, crystalline vocals.

Katerina also paid homage to the late but great Dolores O’Riordan of The Cranberriers with “Dreams,” where she maintained great control over her voice as she belted out the high notes in a controlled and resonant fashion.

Everybody in the audience was in disbelief that Katerina was only 14 years old. It is evident that she has an old soul.

Izze Stein and Parker Phillips were both remarkable and talented in their own right, and did their songs justice.

Following the warm reception (for all three performers, who were supportive of each other), Katerina returned for an encore and performed an additional song, Radiohead’s “Karma Police,” which was also noteworthy.

Hopefully, this is a harbinger for more great things to come from Katerina Athena in the future. Her future should be bright and promising in the contemporary music and entertainment industry. Well done.
