Review: Justin Bieber back with pleasant new pop album ‘Purpose’ (Includes first-hand account)

Bieber’s album opens with “Mark My Words,” which instantly lures the pop listener in, as he displays his wide vocal range. It is followed by the hypnotic and mellow “I’ll Show You” and breaks into his latest radio single, the catchy “What Do You Mean?”

The apologetic “Sorry” is another noteworthy tune, while “Love Yourself” is a laid-back ballad that has a positive message about self-image. “Company” is mid-tempo yet calming with a sultry vibe to it.

“No Pressure” is a soaring collaboration with Big Sean, and Travis Scott is delightful on “No Sense” and their vocals blend well together. “The Feeling” is haunting with a neat echo effect to it, and the highlight track on the album is the gorgeous ballad, the piano-driven “Life Is Worth Living.”

Where Are Ü Now” is a stellar radio single and anther prime track on the collection, where he collaborates with such DJs and producers as Skrillex and Diplo.

It closes with “Children,” which will make the listener clap along, as well as the piano-driven, title track tune “Purpose.”

The Verdict

Overall, Justin Bieber’s new album Purpose is well-crafted from start to finish. His vocals are as good as ever, and he is not afraid to showcase his vulnerability. Haters are going to hate, but this collection is worth more than just a passing glance. Purpose garners 4.5 out 5 stars.
