Review: Judy Collins ethereal on new studio album ‘Strangers Again’ (Includes first-hand account)

Her album begins with the Celtic-sounding “Strangers Again” and it is followed by “Miracle River,” where Michael McDonald lends his rich, tenor voice. “Belfast To Boston” is an equally sublime collaboration with Marc Cohn.

Willie Nelson brings some country into the mix on the haunting tune “When I Go,” while Academy Award winner Jeff Bridges delivers on “Make Our Garden Grow” with Collins, as she displays her controlled, classically trained voice.

Jackson Browne makes a cameo on “Feels Like Home,” while Thomas Dybdahl gives a hallow performance of “From Grace” and their vocals blend well with each other. She pays a moving homage to Leonard Cohen with a glowing version of “Hallelujah,” featuring Bhi Bhiman.

Jimmy Buffett lends his mellow vocals on the Collins classic “Someday Soon” for a memorable duet. She subsequently sings “Stars In My Eyes” as a soothing lullaby.

Her signature tune “Send In The Clowns” is vocal perfection and Don McLean helps elevate it to a higher level with his timeless voice. It closes with “Races,” which features her breathtakingly beautiful soprano voice and she is joined by Glen Hansard from Once.

The Verdict

Overall, Judy Collins is sensational on her latest album Strangers Again. She only gets better with age. This album is a gift from a living musical goddess. It garners an A+ rating.
