Review: Judah and the Lion superb on new album ‘Folk Hop N’ Roll’ (Includes first-hand account)

Their album opens with “Graffiti Dreams,” which is melodically beautiful, and it instantly lures the listener in to this pleasant musical project. It is followed by the laid-back and fun “Forever, Always,” as well as “Folk-Hop Sound,” which has a liberating vibe to it and it captures the theme of the album well.

“All I Want Is You” is up-tempo with neat banjo instrumentation, and it is followed by “Take It All Back,” which is perhaps the highlight vocal on the album. “Reputation” is a tune that would fare well in their live shows, since shows their rapping side.

“Insane” is more mid-tempo and spitfire, while “Better Man” is a captivating ballad on the collection. Their CD closes with “We Own The Night” and the exhilarating “Uh-Huh, Yeah!”

The Verdict

Overall, Judah and the Lion’s new album is a hit. All ten songs on here are well-crafted and unique in their identities. It is diverse and it encompasses multiple genres, which will please an eclectic mix of listeners. It is easily their best musical effort to date. It earns 5 out of 5 stars.
