Their set consisted of material of their newest studio album, the critically-acclaimed Folk Hop N’ Roll.
Judah and the Lion opened with their brand new track “Folk-Hop Sound,” prior to covering Kiss’ “I Wanna Rock N’ Roll All Night,” which resonated well with the Gramercy Theatre crowd.
They continued with the raucous “Reputation,” and it was followed by “Hold On” and “Twenty-Somethings.” The inclusion of “Mason-Dixon Line” in their set was an added bonus, especially due to its appropriate lyric “I’ve seen the heart of that New York skyline.”
They immediately broke into another new song off their latest album, “Forever, Always” and the up-tempo “All I Want Is You,” the latter of which has a bluegrass vibe to it. “Insane” was yet another spitfire vocal and equally impressive was “Graffiti Dreams,” which is the opening tune of their latest CD.
After they performed “Kickin’ da Leaves,” they sang the two greatest songs from their latest record, which included “Take It All Back,” as well as the honest and bittersweet ballad “Better Man,” where Judah showed off his ability to belt out the high notes.
The Verdict
Overall, Judah and the Lion was able to delight at Gramercy Theatre. Their set-list was diverse and they were able to give their fans an entertaining time. They are worth seeing live whenever they are in town. Judah and the Lion is one of the most underrated groups out there. Their live show garnered an A rating.
