Review: JT Hodges delights on new ‘Locks On Doors’ country EP (Includes first-hand account)

Hodges co-wrote all six tracks on this collection. His EP opens with the soaring title track cut “Locks on Doors” and it is followed up with his upbeat and catchy single “Ray Bans,” where the listener can recall such country artists as Joe Nichols meets Kip Moore, and both comparisons should be taken as major compliments.

“Gonna Need a Guitar” is a delicate vocal performance with soothing melodies, while “Girls Like It” is more rocking and spitfire. “Wrong Side of the Bed” is laid-back and another fun tune and it closes with the upbeat “She’s Alive,” which has the potential to become a radio single in the future.

The Verdict

Overall, JT Hodges’ newest EP is a well-crafted album that will please fans of country-pop music. He has always been one of the most underrated artists in the genre. One can really hear his heart on this project, and it proves to be one giant labor of love. His Locks on Doors EP garners an A rating.
