Actresses Joy Behar, Tovah Feldshuh, Susie Essman, and Adrienne C. Moore star in the new play “My First Ex-Husband,” which is being performed at the MMAC Theater in New York City.
Tony nominee Randal Myler directed the Off-Broadway play from a script by comedy maven Joy Behar.
‘My First Ex-Husband’
In “My First Ex-Husband,” Behar dives deep into the messy truths of love, marriage, and divorce, revealing the chaotic, funny, and often eye-opening realities of relationships.
After Behar made the introductory remarks, Susie Essman kicked off the show playing the character Jessica with “Walla Walla Bang Bang,” and it was followed by Tovah Feldshuh nailing “The Widow” segment as a socialite named June.
Adrienne C. Moore showcased some attitude in the sassy “Where Are You At” skit as the feisty Laila, and Behar finished the first half of the show as Monica in “The Touch.”
Essman was hilarious as Serena in “Clothes Make the Man?” where her character talks about a man who enjoys dressing up in women’s clothing and makeup. With Essman, it feels like watching the hit sitcom “Cheers” all over again, and she is our Rhea Perlman, and that ought to be taken as a compliment.

Tovah Feldshuh subsequently stole the show with her monologue-heavy “Wigged Out,” where she was sublime as the religious Jewish woman Rebecca.
Moore was a revelation as Karen in “The Drummer’s Wife,” and she proved to be both a ball of energy and fire.
Behar concluded her witty show with a memorable performance as Gloria in “Get Off of Me,” where the character is dealing with a husband who is addicted to sex.

Each actress brought something unique to the show, and to each character they portrayed. They were able to bring Joy Behar’s lines to life in a raw and refreshing manner.
