Actor and musician Joshua Benard (“General Hospital”) released his new acoustic single “Ladybug.”

Joshua is the son of “General Hospital” patriarch Maurice Benard, who plays Sonny Corinthos. Ironically enough, Joshua released this single on his 21st birthday.

“One day, my mom was calling me, and she said ‘I thought of your ex today because I saw a ladybug,’ and I wrote this song,” Joshua recalled.

“Ladybug” is a soothing acoustic ballad, which is filled with raw emotions. The lyrics are honest, moving, and relatable, especially since we all have a “ladybug” in our lives. It ought to be enjoyed for its beauty, simplicity, and authenticity.

It is evident that talent runs in Joshua’s bloodline, and that he has an old musical soul; he is reminiscent of a young Bob Dylan (“Blowin’ In the Wind”) meets a young Jeff Buckley.

The Verdict

Overall, Joshua Benard delights with his new solo single “Ladybug.” It is worth more than just a passing glance, and it garners two thumbs up.

It puts the majority of the songs that are played on the contemporary pop airwaves to shame. Joshua ought to be the future of the modern music industry.

Hopefully, this is a harbinger of more quality music to come from Joshua Benard in the future.
