Review: Johnnie Mikel releases video for funky single ‘Friday Night’ (Includes first-hand account)

“Friday Night” is carefree and mid-tempo, and the song itself has a funky, retro vibe to it; moreover, “Friday Night” is the follow-up to his Top 40 Billboard BDS Indicator Chart single “Come With Me.”

His new single sits in the Top 25 on the Billboard Top Dance Club charts, and it is climbing (moving up five spots from No. 26 to No. 21). Earlier in 2018, Mikel was the third most-played independent artist on American radio for five weeks, and rightfully so. His songs are going viral on Spotify, and his fan-base is growing exponentially each month, in an organic fashion.

“Friday Night” is available on iTunes and on Spotify.

The Verdict

Overall, Johnnie Mikel delivers on his new radio single “Friday Night.” It has a neat groove to it, and a funky nature, that makes it fun and relatable. It is evident that he has an old soul, and that ought to be taken as a major compliment. The music video for “Friday Night” is quite glorious, and it garners an A- rating.
