Review: John Mellencamp enters Songwriters Hall of Fame, performs hits (Includes first-hand account)

Mellencamp was one of this year’s 10 honorees of the coveted Songwriters Hall of Fame. He was in good company along with country star Bill Anderson, pianist and composer Steve Dorff, Jermaine Dupri, country artist Alan Jackson, musical group Kool & The Gang, and visionary artist Allee Willis.

An Indiana native, Mellencamp performed endearing versions of such songs as “Longest Days” and his signature tune, “Jack and Diane,” which he incorporated as a singalong with the New York audience. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame by Nora Guthrie.
