Actors Jenny Boyd, Max Rinehart, and Academy Award nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo star in the new film “Royally Screwed.”

This film was directed by Sophia Kiapos from a screenplay by Emma Chase, Joany Kane, and Tosca Musk (the CEO and co-founder of Passionflix).

The synopsis is: This movie follows a rebellious prince Nicholas (Max Rinehart) and a sharp-witted Manhattan waitress Olivia (Jenny Boyd) whose chance encounter ignites a modern royal romance that puts tradition, tabloids, and the crown to the test.

As their chemistry deepens, the couple must navigate palace politics and public scrutiny to see if love can really rewrite the rules. Nicholas will be left with a challenging decision… will he choose the throne or the girl?

The movie is based on the New York Times bestselling book of the same name by Emma Chase.

Jenny Boyd is lovely as the bubbly Olivia, and she works well opposite Max Rinehart, who is charming as Nicholas; moreover, their affecting rapport allows for more resonance.

In the limited screen time that she has, Oscar nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo is clever and witty as Queen Lenora. Everybody in this cast is able to bring something distinct to the story.

The cinematography is visually striking, and it comes with a noteworthy musical score.

The Verdict

Overall, “Royally Screwed” is a sweet story with a lot of heart to it. There is a rawness, honesty and authenticity to this screenplay like no other.

The acting performances are memorable all around, and the cast is able to bring Emma Chase’s book to life in a refreshing manner. Compliments to the screenwriters for writing such an invigorating script that will keep the audience engaged for the entire duration.

“Royally Screwed” is the feel-good escapism we all need, especially in these trying times that the world is going through. This film is worth checking out, and it garners four out of five stars. Well done.
