Review: Jared Leto and Thirty Seconds to Mars amazing on ‘Walk on Water’ (Includes first-hand account)

Their song’s lyric video, directed by front-man Jared Leto, was filmed in one day in America, on July 4, 2017. This marks their first single in four years, as well as the lead single from their upcoming fifth studio album, that will be released on Interscope Records.

“Walk on Water” will have its worldwide television debut on the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) that will take place on Sunday, August 27. Most impressive about the tune is that it features a sweeping chorus, and it embodies the spirit of professional athletes. As a result, the song will be used on ESPN’s college football planning for the 2017 season, in both television and digital formats.

Leto revealed that “Walk on Water” is a song for everybody due to its universal message. It deals with such topics as freedom, persistence, change and fighting for what one believes in. “It is a call to arms but also full of all the optimism and hope that is such an integral part of the American Dream,” Jared Leto said, in a press statement.

The Verdict

Overall, Thirty Seconds to Mars is back, with yet another empowering song “Walk on Water.” Jared Leto’s vocals are rich and captivating, and the trio rocks as a whole. The song garners an A rating.

“Walk on Water” is available on iTunes.
