Veteran actor Jamie Jackson stars as media mogul and business magnate Rupert Murdoch in the Off-Broadway show “Murdoch: The Final Interview.” It is being performed at Theater 555 in New York City.

Christopher Scott directed from a script that was written by an “anonymous source.”

The synopsis is: Who almost drowned him as a boy? What happened after Murdoch met President John F. Kennedy in the Oval Office? What are his honest feelings about marriage, truth and sacred cows? All of these questions will be answered in a frank manner.

Jackson is able to take us a wild and bumpy journey of Murdoch’s complex, discombobulated, yet accomplished life.

In this resonant play, the audience will watch Planet Earth’s most controversial oligarch, Rupert Murdoch, face the cameras, a live audience and a mysterious interviewer (which is slightly reminiscent of the David Frost and Richard Nixon interview) as he attempts to secure his legacy.

Forbes Magazine has ranked Rupert Murdoch as the “97st richest person in the globe” due to his $23.9 billion worth.

Throughout the duration of the show, actor Sam Vartholomeos assists Jackson as his stage manager.

If that weren’t enough, Jackson is also able to play over 20 of Murdoch’s friends and foes, where viewers can recall a true Chazz Palimteri “Bronx Tale” fashion.

The Verdict

Overall, Jamie Jackson truly captures the conscience and psyche of Rupert Murdoch in a performance that is cerebral, controlled, and commanding; moreover, he layers his emotions well and it runs the gamut.

From start to finish, Jackson did a flawless job, despite being a lengthy script (which got a bit redundant and convoluted at times).

For over 90 minutes, Jackson (as Murdoch) wrestles, literally, with an inscrutable monster. There is an honesty and authenticity to this play like no other.

It’s the shocking, fair, yet balanced interview the audience has been waiting for, and it was brought to life by a single actor (Jamie Jackson) is a raw, organic, and convincing manner.
