Review: James Maslow superb on emotional new music video for ‘Who Knows’ (Includes first-hand account)

The music video, directed by Joshua Shultz, is monochromatic, which adds to its appeal. His vocals are sultry yet expressive. One can sense the pain, heartbreak and sorrow in his voice.

While the video may not have the ending that all James Maslow fans would want, it will strike a chord with his listeners, since it is authentic, honest and relatable. Once again, Maslow is not afraid to display his vulnerability as a musician.

Maslow was the 2017 winner of Macy’s iHeartRadio Rising Star competition, which afforded him the privilege to play iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas this past September.

The Verdict

Overall, James Maslow does an exceptional job on his “Who Knows” music video. He allows the music to speak for itself, and has done a solid job on the vocal performance, thus showcasing his versatility as an artist. Maslow’s voice is controlled and impressive, as he sings about unrequited love. His music video for “Who Knows” garners an A rating.
