Review: Jade Mya releases soaring new country single ‘Make Lightning’ (Includes first-hand account)

Mya’s musical style is a refreshing blend of story-telling, heart-felt traditional folk, and country-rock with an edgy twist to it. Her spitfire vocals are reminiscent of Miranda Lambert (her early material) meets Kelsea Ballerini.

Most impressive about Mya is that she is anything but a traditional country girl. She has crafted a persona that is distinct, where she has taken every aspect of her life and celebrated it in her music and presence.

“Feelin’ strong on my own, walkin’ tall in my brand new boots, at the bar with my girls all done up, whiskey shots and an attitude,” Mya sings, in the opening verse.

The Canadian songstress is splitting her time between the studio where she is cutting her latest original single, and on the road, where she performs her songs live for the fans.

The Verdict

Overall, Jade Mya’s “Make Lightning” is a pleasant release. Her personality is bubbly and infectious, and it is displayed eloquently in her music. “Make Lightning” garners 4 out of 5 stars.
