The song itself has an outlaw country vibe to it, where he name-drops Bocephus (Hank Williams Jr.) His release timing is perfect, especially since it is made available to his fans and listeners on 4th of July.
Every single he has released this year has shown Young’s wide range as a country music recording artist. “Better Than a Love Song” and “Fool For You” were both love ballads, the infectious “Whiskey Kiss” was more fun and upbeat, and his latest single “American Way” is outlaw and patriotic-themed (something that Toby Keith, Jamey Johnson or the late Waylon Jennings would have released). His vocals on “American Way” are rich and raspy, and he sings with conviction.
“American Way” is available on iTunes.
Most recently, Young covered Eric Church’s “Like Jesus Does” on his YouTube channel.
The Verdict
Overall, Jacob Young has released a vibrant and impressive new country single “American Way.” There is a sense of honesty and authenticity to its lyrics, and that shows. This tune will resonate well with his listening audience, especially those that gravitate towards traditional and neo-traditional country music. Young has been consistent with every track that he has released, and thus far, all of the songs have been keepers. “American Way” garners two thumbs up.
