Review: Greta van Fleet amazing on new double EP ‘From The Fires’ (Includes first-hand account)

This double EP opens with the mid-tempo yet rocking “Safari Song” and it is followed by the power-ballad “Edge Of Darkness,” which features Josh Kiszka’s harking voice.

“Flower Power” is slower yet remarkable due to its retro, bluesy vibe. Their take on the Sam Cooke classic “A Change Is Gonna Come” sends chills down the listener’s spine. They pick up the pace with the refreshing rock song “Highway Tune.”

This collection encompasses elements of rock, alternative, blues, R&B, soul and funk, thus displaying their wide versatility as a group. Josh’s rich, piercing vocals are reminiscent of the early musical work of Led Zeppelin front-man Robert Plant.

After their rendition of “Meet on The Ledge,” this project closes with the mid-tempo and sassy “Talk On The Street,” as well as the addicting “Black Smoke Rising,” where they leave their fans wanting to hear more.

From The Fires is available on iTunes and on Spotify.

Greta Van Fleet is comprised of four young rockers, brothers Josh (lead vocals), Jake (guitar) and Sam (bass and keys) Kiszka, and their best friend Danny Wagner on drums.

The Verdict

Overall, Greta Van Fleet has released an amazing new double EP From The Fires. Lead singer Josh Kiszka’s voice is an eighth world wonder, and he proves that he has an old soul. One can hear Josh’s heart on the album, and he is not afraid to be vulnerable. The entire band rocks as a whole, and Greta Van Fleet certainly the greatest rock band to come out of 2017. From The Fires garners an A+ rating.
