Actor Vincent Pastore (Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero from The Sopranos) was his special guest.
Goumba Johnny noted that “it was great to be on Long Island,” even though he is originally from The Bronx, and imitated his father, who loved The Bronx hardcore. He went on to talks about his root canal, which took place in Roslyn, and he shared the DNA results that his sister paid several hundred dollars for. Goumba Johnny was relieved that his heritage is not Irish by any means, which saves him from going to “St. Patty’s Day Parade” each year.
He noted that he just celebrated a big birthday, turning 60 years old. “Life begins at 40, but what they don’t tell you is that it ends at 50,” he said. “At 70, you are trying to find God, before he finds you,” he added, jokingly.
Goumba Johnny shared that his five nieces are “phone snobs,” and recalled his younger days, when the phone was on the call, and nobody knew who was the caller (since there was no caller ID at the time). “Kids are stupid, but the phones are smart,” he said.
When his nieces told him that they would move out of the country if Trump were to become president, he told them that they wouldn’t, since first they would need to move out of their mom’s house, hence he became known as the “crazy uncle.” He also explained the difference between a racist and a bigot.
The comedian just celebrated his 10 year wedding anniversary, and noted that he and his wife get along really well; moreover, the only thing that he and his wife disagree on are what programs to watch on TV, so they compromise. He revealed that his favorite programs are sports games, anything ghost related, and the documentary series Finding Bigfoot. “In ghost shows, they don’t find shit,” he admitted, and went on to do his impression of a ghosthunter.
He also acknowledged that he can’t watch conventional TV, nor can he binge-watch shows such as Game of Thrones. “That’s not me,” he said.
Goumba Johnny asked the crowd: “How many Sopranos fans are in the house?” which segued into his guest, Vincent “Big Pussy” Pastore. He revealed that it was voted the No. 1 TV show of all time by Rolling Stone. At the same time, Pastore was voted as the second most popular character, right behind Tony Soprano (played by the late Emmy-winning actor James Gandolfini).
Pastore expressed his love for The Governor’s Comedy Club. “I love this place here at The Brokerage,” Pastore said, prior to opening up about Dancing with the Stars and Celebrity Apprentice with Donald Trump. Towards the end of Pastore’s brief comedic set, he invited a few audience members onstage to improv a few scenes for a skit. Pastore shared that he teaches acting classes in Greenwich Village.
