Review: Gavin DeGraw superb at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York (Includes first-hand account)

He shared the stage with fellow singer-songwriter Andy Grammer, whom he co-headlined this tour.

DeGraw began his set with “Chariot,” and it was followed by “Best I Ever Had” and “Sweeter,” thus immersing his fans into his high-octane show. He immediately broke into “In Love With a Girl” and he showed his sultry vocals on “Follow Through.”

It was great to hear material from his new studio album, Something Worth Saving, which included “Making Love with the Radio On,” the title track, and “You Make My Heart Sing Louder.”

DeGraw took it back old school with “Soldier,” as well as his signature songs “Not Over You” and “I Don’t Want to Be,” both of which were sheer perfection.

“She Sets the City on Fire” was pure ear candy, as everybody was singing along with him, and he closed by covering The Beatles classic “Hey Jude.”

The Verdict

Overall, Gavin DeGraw put on a high-energy live performance at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. He displayed his tremendous prowess on piano, and his vocals were spot on. His show garnered an A rating.
