Actor Frank Grillo was recently spotlighted in Maurice Benard’s “MB State of Mind” podcast on mental health.

A three-time Emmy winner, Benard plays Sonny Corinthos in the hit ABC daytime drama “General Hospital,” and he believe that this is an episode that every man should watch. Benard noted that Grillo started out on “Guiding Light,” and then he skyrocketed in the motion picture industry and his career has been “unbelievable.”

It features two tough guys (Benard and Grillo) being vulnerable and opening up about such topics as suicide, depression, family, love movies, and soap operas. “Frank Grillo is a movie star but he is really just a great guy,” Benard said.

Grillo acknowledged that his next chapter in life should be about “helping people.” He praised Benard for all of his work as a male mental health advocate. “When I went on ‘Oprah,’ there was no man talking about it ever, and now, bipolar is the new crazy,” Benard said.

Their entire informed conversation may be heard below.

Most recently, Grillo starred in “Paradise Highway” opposite Academy Award winners Juliette Binoche and Morgan Freeman.

In addition, Grillo will star in the Ambi Pictures biopic “Lamborghini,” where he is playing founder Ferruccio Lamborghini.
