The album was co-produced by Markus Dravs and Paul Epworth. All of the tracks were written or co-written by Welch. It opens with the upbeat yet soothing “Ship To Wreck” and it is followed by the haunting ballad “What Kind Of Man.” The title track “How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful” is absolutely gorgeous and worthy of the repeat button. “Queen Of Peace” has a neat orchestral arrangement to it and it is uplifting.
“Various Storms & Saints” is yet another prime example that Florench’s voice is too good to be mortal. “Delilah” is an unflinching vocal, while “Long & Lost” is haunting yet beautifully sung. Her vocals on “Caught” are reminiscent of Sarah McLachlan.
She shows some attitude on “Third Eye,” while “St. Jude” is a controlled and atmospheric performance. It closes with the angelic tune “Mother.”

The Verdict
Overall, Florence Welch’s lead vocals on this album are like a shot of pure gold. She gets better with each and every release. One could not go wrong by purchasing a Florence + The Machine CD. Hopefully, this will be the project that will earn them their first, long-overdue Grammy award. It garners an A rating.
