Review: ‘Fairy Tail 2’ EP 46 teaches us not to always rely on magic

Episode 46 of Fairy Tail 2, titled “The Silver Labyrinth,” is currently streaming on Crunchyroll and FUNimation for paid subscribers. Free subscribers can watch this same episode six days from now on February 27th.

Natsu proves that he is the most juvenile member of the entire Fairy Tail guild from the snowball fight he has with Happy. Happy’s childish personality is acceptable because he is technically five years old, but in reality he is chronologically 12 years old.

I continue to feel bad for Lucy because she is the only sane and logical member of Fairy Tail, which does not really give her any mileage within the guild. It actually causes Lucy to be dragged in the most f—ked up situations and the most f—king dangerous adventures in the story.

To be honest, I think it is pure psychological torture on Lucy at times.

I laughed when Lucy tried to assert herself and ended up triggering an avalanche with her yelling. I understand her anger and frustration, but she does it in the worst possible place in the world.

I didn’t expect Lucy to show off her p—sed off and scary side let alone in this episode. She looks scarier and angrier than Erza.

The trio learn that mother nature is a b-tch when they deal with the cold blizzard as they find themselves in a difficult situation without Erza’s magic armors, Gray’s ice abilities, Wendy’s wind abilities, or even Juvia’s water abilities.

Things got interesting when Lucy revealed that her Celestial Spirits are on vacation at the moment due to the chaos and calamity that wreaked the Celestial Spirit World a few episodes ago. That means no help from the Celestial Spirits, which makes the adventure more difficult.

I like watching the Fairy Tail mages, though it can get frustrating, to be placed in situations that do not allow them to rely on magic outright. The winds are too cold for Natsu’s fire, the blizzard is too strong for Happy’s wings, and Lucy’s Celestial Spirits are on “vacation.”

What makes it worse for the group is that the air is so cold that Natsu does not have his sense of smell.

Natsu makes a s—tty survivalist because of his inability to hold back, which causes all of their food to burn.

This was an interesting adventure because it shows that mages depend too much on their magic to get themselves out of a jam. Natsu and Happy are prime examples because they have proven to be ineffective in an arctic climate without the help from their teammates.

It reminds me on why Lucy is the smart one.

She has an understanding that power makes people “stupid” because they rely on pure power than their own intelligence.

I also blame Happy for his impulsiveness in picking the mission without doing the proper research, too.

This is obviously the trio’s most f—ked adventure because they cannot use their magic, they cannot eat anything, and they cannot fall asleep.

The Silver Labyrinth” was a very enjoyable episode to watch and I loved the comedic and ironic ending. It was funny to see that the Hakobe Ice work as the legends say, but at the cost of the actual ice forcing the trio to go through that nightmare once again.
