Review: Eric Paslay charms on new country single ‘Angels in this Town’ (Includes first-hand account)

His new single was shipped to radio on July 5, and it goes for radio adds on July 18. The song was co-written by Paslay, Corey Crowder and Erik Dylan, and it was subsequently produced by Marshall Altman. It is featured on his sophomore studio album, Dressed in Black, which will be released on EMI Nashville.

On July 3, Paslay headed back to his home state of Texas, where he celebrated some of the local “angels in the town,” where honored their community heroes.

“Angels in this Town” is infectious, with a neo-traditionalist vibe to it. His baritone vocals are reminiscent of Thomas Rhett meets Mike Eli from the country group Eli Young Band.

“Hail Mary touchdown, caught it, don’t know how, felt something lift you up a little bit higher, six for the win, and the crowd goes wild, ain’t nothing better than a hometown choir,” he sings, in the opening verse.

Paslay is out on the road touring with country mega-star Toby Keith on his “Interstates & Tailgates Tour,” which is presented by Ford F-Series, which kicked off on July 8 in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

The Verdict

Overall, “Angels in this Town” garners 4.5 out of 5 stars. This is certainly one of Paslay’s best songs since “Friday Night.” It will be available tomorrow on iTunes by clicking here.
