King co-wrote her upbeat song with her producer, Dave Bassett. It is a track from her album, Love Stuff. It reached the top of the Billboard Hot Rock Songs charts, where it has charted for 32 weeks, and the Billboard Alternative Songs charts.
Her musical style is quite versatile, especially since it encompasses elements of pop, rock, alternative and adult contemporary. Its guitar and banjo instrumentation helps elevate it to a higher level. Her vocals are reminiscent of British songstress Duffy (“Mercy”), and that ought to be taken as a compliment.
“Well, I had me a boy, turned him into a man, I showed him all the things that he didn’t understand, Whoa, and then I let him go,” King sings, in its opening verse. The song is about the female narrator’s past relationships with men, whom she let go.
