Corbin’s new album, released via his record label Mercury Nashville, begins with the mid-tempo, yet refreshing “Kiss Me One More Time,” which instantly lures the country listener in this brand new collection of tunes. It is followed by the upbeat and infectious “Guys And Girls” and its breakthrough radio single “Clockwork.”
“Diggin’ On You” is a sassy tune that Corbin co-penned and equally impressive is his latest radio single “Baby Be My Love Song,” which deserves to be a No. 1 hit on country radio.
The title track cut “About To Get Real” is a gorgeous ballad with elements of traditional country, while “Yup” is more laid-back and mellow. In “Wild Women And Whiskey,” he makes an allusion to several of his musical heroes including George Strait and Alan Jackson. “Are You With Me” is an exquisite piano-driven ballad, which showcased the diversity in Corbin’s voice.
“Damn Girl” is a witty and cleverly-written track that will resonate well with his male listeners. It closes with “Just Add Water” and the stirring ballad “Like A Song,” where he shows his ability to nail the high notes.
The Verdict
Overall, Easton Corbin’s new About To Get Real album truly is the real deal in country music. It is a highly eclectic studio effort and there is something in it for everybody. About To Get Real garners an A rating.
